A Boston College Intern in Kuching - Concludes

    Office work, yes.
I actually do have some contribution to make to the Kuching office instead of just touring around, you know. I am working on developing HFH’s profile on ammado (a kind of Facebook for Non Profit Organizations). In particular, I have been tasked with setting up an online community for volunteers and friends to [...]

A Boston College Intern in Kuching - Monkey Business

    ORANGUTANS
One of the best reasons to come to Kuching is the amazing amount of wildlife and eco-system you can explore.
After my day of sweat and exercise at the Law house, I had the opportunity to do some sightseeing of this region. My tour guide was the fabulously knowledgeable, as well as newly elected President of [...]

A Boston College Intern in Kuching - Twisting Wires

I feel like I have been given a crash course overview of Kuching, Malaysia and the Habitat for Humanity affiliate office here. I cannot say anything negative about my experience here, well except for the heat, but everything else exceeded my expectations.

On Saturday morning, I arrived at the build site for Law Moi Nui’s family, and [...]

Hi! I am a graduate student at Boston College in the United States and have had an internship with Habitat for Humanity for four months. INDIVIDUAL GIVING & MASS MARKETING TRAINING/ WORKSHOP - DAY TWO

    26 March 2008

Today saw a number of fruitful sessions in which we explored and developed the fundraising lessons learned on Day One. After a moving devotion speech in which Peter Gape related the story of why he is with Habitat, the participants split into smaller workshop groups. Here is a brief summary of two such [...]

INDIVIDUAL GIVING & MASS MARKETING TRAINING/ WORKSHOP – DAY ONE (AFTERNOON SESSION)

The Philippines Experience by Marcia Yogore
Marcia presented a slideshow on the different types of houses built in the Philippines, and also their use of innovative new technologies such as Concrete Interlocking Blocks, etc.

To raise funds, HfH Philippines has to “sell” tangible products. Their core competency is in building. They must show ideas in a [...]

INDIVIDUAL GIVING & MASS MARKETING TRAINING/ WORKSHOP – DAY ONE (MORNING SESSION)

    25 March 2008
I arrived in Singapore late yesterday (at midnight, which makes it this morning) to attend Habitat’s Asia Pacific Resource Development Conference held at Fort Canning Lodge. I would have got here earlier if not for the grinding wait at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, thanks to a horde of F1 fans. Here we are, [...]

Dapat thanks you, and House #46 is done!

With the overwhelming generosity of donors (I will add a new page to list out their names), and the unflagging efforts of Habitat’s international and local volunteers, we are pleased to announce that Dapat and his family will have their new house paid for.

The Flickr page is up as well, do mouse over to the [...]
