How are Homeowners selected?
Families are selected without discrimination. Race, religion, age, gender or political affiliation will never be a factor in the selection process.
Applicants are selected mainly on the following criteria:
- Current living condition is unsatisfactory or unhealthy.
- Total family income is between RM600.00 to RM1,500.00 (for those with own land) and total family income is between RM1,500.00 to RM2,500.00 (for those without land)
- Willing to make small monthly payments to repay the cost of the house. The money paid back will go into the revolving fund to help other families in need.
- Willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity by contributing at least 400 hours of ‘sweat equity’ in the building of own house and the homes of other Habitat homeowners and to abide by Habitat principles. ‘Sweat equity’ is the labor homeowners contribute in building the houses.
Applicant to purchase an application form (RM1.00) at Habitat’s office during office hours, completes the application form and returns back with the relevant required documents stated in the application form.
